Lakeside YMCA is a busy and highly respected Outdoor Adventure and Education Centre. We are known for delivering inspirational, exciting and challenging outdoor adventures for personal and social development to children, young adults, families and corporate clients.
Lakeside has ½ mile of Windermere shoreline and access to 450 acres of woodland activity areas onsite. Night Warden-Caretaker: Full Time (7 days on, 7 off) £11,921pa pro rata £6.55 per hour. Seasonal until 31st October 2015 (extension and contract for 2016 may be possible according to Centre needs)
We are seeking a committed, enthusiastic individual to join our team to support the Centre’s operation during the evenings, including on call during sleeping hours. With a variety of client needs and facilities to care for the successful candidate will need to be able to develop credible and professional relationships with Clients and Staff alike, anticipate and act to ensure great customer service in line with service and emergency protocols. You will be dependable and conscientious, so that you can conduct your duties well without high levels of direct supervision. Accommodation is provided for when you are on duty & if you require full time accommodation, a small charge will be made. We also offer subsidised meals, available from our dining room.
House Keeper x 2 £11,921pa pro rata, £6.55 per hour. Seasonal until 31st October 2015 (extension and possible permanent position for right candidate according to Centre needs)
We are looking for committed, enthusiastic individuals to join our dedicated Housekeeping team. This is no ordinary House Keeping position, with a variety of client needs and facilities to care for, we are looking for Individuals who enjoy getting stuck in, can pay attention to detail and have a commitment to provide our clients with facilities to the highest of standards and excellent customer service. Hours are negotiable, up to a maximum of 35 hours a week and term time only considered.
Business Development Executive: Full Time Temporary for 1 Year with the intention to be permanent. 40 Hour Week, Salary Scale Under Review
We are looking for a committed, enthusiastic individual to join our Business Development Team. The successful candidate will specialise in building relationships and achieving sales in the outdoor education market, including Schools, Youth and bespoke experiential development programmes to a range of corporate clients. This is an exciting opportunity in a dynamic and expanding market, with scope to influence the sales and marketing strategy for Lakeside's future business.
Volunteer instructors x 3 (Seasonal 30th Mar – 31st Aug 2015)
£50 a week expenses plus full board and accommodation. This is designed for those of you who do not have sufficient qualifications and or experience yet. We offer you the chance to join our team and learn on the job. If you gain the NGBs and demonstrate the skills during the season we will upgrade you to an Instructor contract. Extensions to contracts are usually available for some staff. To be successful you must be seriously working towards a career in the outdoors and ready to make the best of all the opportunities available to you.

Peak Season Instructors (just 2 places remaining) £6.55 per hour plus subsidised on-site accommodation and meals.
You will receive 1 week intense paid induction training from highly qualified and experienced staff. Our outdoor education and adventure programmes are delivered to a wide range of clients including schools, colleges, youth groups, corporate and family. Through these we aim to give you the opportunity to learn and develop, to broaden your instructional skills and deepen your understanding of “Learning Outside the Classroom”. Good staff will have the opportunity to extend contracts into the autumn. This year some staff will work until the end of November. This post is also ideal for University Students studying the outdoors with NGB’s but need to gain group work experience.
You need a minimum of one NGB assessment and one NGB training from the following: Summer ML, SPA, RYA Dinghy Instructor or BCU L1 Coach plus 3* and will be able to demonstrate a good level of previous instructional experience.
Day Camp Leader Volunteers x 8 (25th July – 28th August 2015) £50 a week expenses plus full board and accommodation.
Would you like to gain experience working with and being responsible for children? Have you got bags of enthusiasm and energy, a great sense of humour, full of fun and a commitment to give 5 weeks of your summer? If so, this placement is designed for you. You will receive 1 week’s intensive training in what you will need to learn and then you will spend 4 weeks, Monday to Friday as leaders within our Day Camp Programme. Join our team for the summer and make friends for life.
