YOUNGSTERS will be able to attend a summer camp thanks to money donated by the Evening Mail.
Children who may otherwise not be able to attend summer day camps at the YMCA National Centre in Lakeside have been given a helping hand to pay for costs through the centre’s bursary support scheme.
Evening Mail publishing director Jonathan Lee handed over £500 from the North-West Evening Mail Charitable Trust Fund to support the scheme.
A spokeswoman for the Lakeside YMCA said: “We’re delighted to get some bursary funding, especially from the local community.
“The money will go to help local children attend day camps for the people that may otherwise not have been able to.
“We operate a bursary support mechanism for local children and families can request support from that fund and then it contributes to them attending day camps.
“In this economic climate businesses are finding it very hard so it’s great to be able to get that cheque.”
