Here’s what our accreditations say about us
When you’re booking professional development training courses, there are certain things you need to be sure about:
- Does it offer quality training opportunities?
- Does the training meet our learning objectives?
- Is it different and memorable?
- Is it safe?
- Is it value for money?
- Can I justify this to my manager/director/shareholder?
At Lakeside, you can be confident that we’ve got all of these points covered and more. And our impressive list of accreditations means that you don’t just have to take our word for it.
Our accreditations and what they mean
As you’d expect from reputable suppliers, we hold ISO 9001, ISO14001 and our contractors work to CHAS standards (Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme).
Safety is a priority and, as well as independently verifying our safety credentials, our numerous accreditations mean that you can have full confidence in the quality of our programmes and level of instruction.
British Activity Provider Association (BAPA)
To become a member, we agree to abide by the BAPA Code of Conduct, which covers everything from accommodation and activity equipment to environmental responsibility and learning support.
The BAPA badge gives you confidence that we work to high standards of safety and quality in everything we do here at Lakeside. Inspections take place annually and this year’s audit takes place later this month.
Adventure Activities Licence
Awarded by the AALA (Adventure Activities Licensing Authority), the licence is a legal requirement for any organisation providing adventure activities for young people. It’s a demanding application process, which checks that our equipment is up to standard and in excellent working order, and makes sure that we have rigorous systems, processes and safeguarding practices in place. We must also demonstrate that we deliver good quality adventure programmes for young people.
To make sure we maintain our high standards, we’re inspected every year. In June, independent inspectors visited Lakeside and were given free access to all areas. They spent time talking to and observing our instructors while they workes, and we passed with flying colours.
Awarded by BAPA, the Adventuremark is for centres like ours that offer accommodation and more adventurous activities. It shows that we’re all geared up to offer more challenging outdoor activities such as mountain walking, trekking, canoeing and caving.
Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge (LOtC)
One of the things that makes us different at Lakeside is the learning and development opportunities we offer. This additional accreditation shows that our programmes provide quality learning and support for young people and apprentices.
The sport’s governing body has accredited Lakeside as a centre for the provision and instruction of canoeing. In other words, we offer top quality canoeing instruction!
Royal Yachting Association Training Centre
We’re also an official training centre for the Royal Yachting Association. It means that we’re qualified to train yachting instructors, as well as teach young people and novices to sail.
