A great way to build successful working relationships
It’s autumn: the leaves are changing colour turning the Lake District into a rich vista of scarlet, auburn and crimson, and Lake Windermere is still pleasantly warm from the summer months. At Lakeside, it’s also the time of year when we welcome new apprentices.
Businesses from around the country send their new intake of apprentices to Lakeside for professional development.
It’s a great opportunity for the new apprentices to break the ice and build good working relationships with their fellow apprentices. Tony Ball, Programme Operations Manager, explains:
“Our Apprentice Development programme is designed to ease the move from school to workplace, and accelerate the transition from school leaver to valuable employee.”
Preparing for work
Our outdoor activities encourage teamwork, with apprentices working together and communicating effectively with one another to complete the challenge or task. There’s something for everyone, from land-based trust activities to kayaking, raft building and high ropes.
“Our Apprentice Development programme can bridge the gap between education and work. They build useful business relationships, learn valuable life skills such as teamwork, self-reliance and responsibility, and often surprise themselves by taking on challenges they didn’t think possible. It’s amazing to see how the apprentices increase in confidence as the course progresses,” adds Tony.
Through experiential learning, we take apprentices out of their comfort zone, which helps them to develop the attitudes and behaviours they need for success in the workplace.
