Rydal Water is one of the smallest lakes. It’s ¾ mile long, ¼ mile wide and just 55 feet deep.
Did you know?
Steps leading up from the western end of Rydal Water, take you to ‘Wordsworth’s Seat’. This is reputed to be poet William Wordsworth’s favourite viewpoint.
One of the walks around Rydal Water takes you past Dove Cottage and Rydal Mount – two of Wordsworth’s homes – and Rydal Cave, a natural cavern in the hill above Rydal Water.
