And the winner is…
Lakeside YMCA have just hosted the final weekend of the annual Schools Challenge Cup. In what was the closest fought and most successful Challenge to date, 15 teams battled it out ‘til the last to win the coveted cup.
Claiming third place were the indomitable GG2EZ from Darlington’s Hurworth School with 23,175 points. In second place we have Gateshead’s finest Joseph Swan Academy represented by ‘Scotty’s Boys’ with 24,550 points. Overall champions – by a whisker of only 75 points were another high performing Hurworth Team- Darlo Firm. Their final score is in and the Cup is duly awaiting to be presented to the worthy winners who will be celebrating their 24,625 point victory.
Senior Instructor at Lakeside, Nigel Stafford-Howarth said, “This has been the most competitive School Challenge tournament and it was a real close call between the overall final 3. It’s been tremendous fun and I can’t wait for next year’s Cup.”
In fact dates are already out for next year’s Team Challenge Cup which runs from the last week of January until the last weekend of February. A typical Challenge weekend would involve teams of 6 arriving Friday evening and departing lunchtime on Sunday. Teams compete against each other in a series of adventurous challenges with the team earning the most points lifting the Cup.
Next year we are offering groups the opportunity to arrive Thursday evening and depart lunchtime Saturday in order that they can enjoy a Sunday off before returning to school on Monday.
Feedback from this year’s groups has been fantastic and we look forward to welcoming them back in 2020. For further information on next year’s Challenge or to reserve your place now call or email, one of our sales team and they will be happy to help you.
