Something to look forward to – the Schools Challenge Cup 2018

The start of a new school year can often generate mixed emotions. There’s the excitement of new students, new opportunities and, of course, new challenges.

But what if one of those challenges was something to really look forward to?

Our 2018 Schools Challenge Cup is certainly that – and there are still a few places left for our 2018 challenge in February.

It’s open to Year 9 & 10 students from schools across the country who compete in teams to win as many points as possible in a variety of fun, adventure activities. While only one team can be crowned Schools Challenge Cup Champions 2018, all students benefit from the leadership and teamwork skills (among others) that come with taking part.

How it works

Each weekend, teams of six students from different schools take on the same set of challenges, and are awarded points for teamwork, creativity and how well they complete each task. When all teams have completed the event, the school with the most points is crowned the Schools Challenge Cup Champion.

Why will your school enter?

The event runs from late Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon and, as it’s out of season, offers excellent value for money. Tony Ball, Programme Operations Manager says:

“Schools tell us that the Schools Challenge Cup is one of the best value visits they can offer students, and it’s becoming more and more popular.”

Schools enter to:

  • Reward well-behaved / hardworking / high-achieving students
  • Develop team working and problem solving skills
  • Improve students’ self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Build self-reliance
  • Benefit from expert tuition
  • Re-engage students and motivate them to reach their full potential

And perhaps most important of all, to:

  • Enjoy the adventure!

A fun way to learn

There’s something for everyone, from land-based trust activities to the famous raft race, where teams must work together to build a raft that will stay afloat long enough for them to reach the finish line on Lake Windermere.

Through this type of experiential learning, our young people discover the value of applying themselves to a task, and how their individual and team efforts determine their success.
