As we round off 2019 with a festive feast for the staff team, we reflect on the highlights of 2019 at YMCA Lakeside…and it’s been a real sizzler!
Since the 1st April we’ve welcomed 30 corporate groups, 127 schools, 73 youth groups and over 600 intrepid summer Day Campers! And that’s not counting some amazing events including our August Family Fun Day, Epic Events and The Lap, and all the families who booked onto our Family Adventure Days.
We’ve joined forces with Woodland Experiences and seen the launch of Lake District Radio from their new studio in our North Camp headquarters.
We’ve had walkers and cyclists clamouring to book rooms on Airbnb and beavers, scouts and guides galore. We’ve provided phase 1 Adventure weeks for hundreds of National Citizen Service graduates. We’ve welcomed church groups and youth clubs, Young Carers and Friends of Chernobyl. We’ve hosted sports clubs and sailing clubs, sea scouts and orienteers. Our eager instructor team have even provided outdoor first aid training, mountain leader training and Royal Yachting Association courses.
Of course, all these groups need some hearty, home cooked fare to fuel their adventurous outdoor challenges. And we’ve done them proud. Our catering team have taken stock and here’s what they’ve cooked up this season…Some 43,800 sausages have been sizzling in the pan and what’s more here’s just a taste of what we’ve cooked up:
