YMCA Lakeside Mountain Leader and Rock Climbing Instructor Courses
The Mountain Leader Award trains and assesses candidates in the skills required to lead hillwalking groups in summer conditions on mountainous routes not requiring the planned use of a rope. If you love the outdoors and want to take your passion one step further to enable you to share your enthusiasm with others, then this is the course for you!

ML REQUIREMENTS
You must have completed the training course or have gained exemption from MTE
- Hold a valid Adult 16 hour course first aid certificate. Please bring the original with you to the course.
- Minimum age of 18 years.
- Be registered with Mountain Training for the Mountain Leader Scheme
- You must have completed a minimum of 40 quality mountain days in a minimum of 3 different areas in the UK recorded in your DLOG on the MT CMS system.

EQUIPMENT
You will be expected to be appropriately equipped as a group leader at all times, however, safety ropes and group shelters can be provided by the centre. Please remember to bring your first aid certificate original with you. Please arrange to have the following maps during the course.
